Grand Hyatt Berlin stands on Marlene-Dietrich-Platz, a calm square tucked behind the towers and theatres of Potsdamer Platz. Walk through the doors and the mood shifts at once: dark wood, clean lines and a hush that guests bring up again and again, even though the busiest crossroads in the city is only a few minutes away on foot.
The rooms keep things simple and generous. Think pale walls, wide beds, deep armchairs and bathrooms finished in stone and glass, looking out over the city, the park or a quiet inner courtyard. Club rooms come with lounge access, and the larger suites add a kitchenette.
The real draw is on an upper floor. Here the spa wraps around a long indoor pool beneath a wooden ceiling, with a sauna, a steam room and treatment rooms where tall windows frame the Berlin skyline. It is the natural place to recover after a long day of walking.
Dining covers a lot of ground: a relaxed Italian restaurant, a second restaurant with a sushi bar and an open show kitchen, a terrace for a summer aperitif and a cocktail bar with a playful nod to the 1980s. The breakfast buffet is large and a frequent reason guests say they would return.
The short hotel video gives a first impression of the building, and the gallery takes you through the pool, the rooms and the restaurants.

Berlin, Germany.
Potsdamer Platz was rebuilt from wasteland after the fall of the Wall and is now a dense district of offices, cinemas, theatres and shops. From the hotel it takes about four minutes to walk to the Berliner Philharmonie and the museums of the Kulturforum, while the Mall of Berlin and Leipziger Platz are just beyond the main square.
The green expanse of the Tiergarten starts a few streets north, and the Brandenburg Gate is roughly a kilometre away, an easy walk past the Holocaust Memorial. Potsdamer Platz station and the Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Park U-Bahn stop put the rest of Berlin within easy reach, and Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is connected to the centre by rail.

Guests keep coming back to the same points: the rooms are spacious, quiet and well kept, the beds are very comfortable and the location just off Potsdamer Platz makes sightseeing easy. The spa and pool on the upper floor get warm praise, as do the generous breakfast buffet and a front desk and concierge team that goes out of its way to help. The weak spots are practical ones. One guest found the lift to the eighth floor very slow, and on busy mornings breakfast service can lag behind.
