What we collect and why

When you browse. Our hosting and security providers process technical data such as your IP address, browser and the pages you request, to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in a working, secure site. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It uses no cookies and does not track you across sites.

When you accept cookies. Only if you click Accept, we load Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics. They help us understand how visitors use the site, so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes data such as an anonymised IP address, device type, pages visited and time on the site. The legal basis is your consent. Before you choose, and after you decline, nothing is sent to Google. Google Analytics keeps this data for 14 months.

When you contact us. If you use the contact form, we receive the details you enter, such as your name, email address and message. We use them only to reply and to handle your request. Forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that you are not a bot. We keep your message for as long as needed to handle it and at most two years, unless we have an ongoing conversation or agreement with you.

When you list your hotel. If you use the listing form on Add your hotel video, we receive what you enter about the hotel (name, address, video and photo links, texts, booking link, social accounts) and about yourself (name, role, work email, phone if you give it), plus the campaign tags in the link you clicked and the page that referred you. We use this to build and manage the hotel page, to send you the link to continue your listing, a confirmation and a preview, and to answer your questions. The legal basis is the agreement you enter into when you send the listing and, before that, our legitimate interest in handling your request. You confirm that the hotel holds the rights to the material you share. We keep a listing that did not lead to a published page for twelve months, and the details behind a published page for as long as the page is live. Email [email protected] to update or remove either.

When you click Book direct. We count clicks per hotel per day, without storing who clicked. The link takes you to the hotel's own website, where the hotel's privacy policy applies.

Videos from other platforms. Videos from Vimeo, YouTube, TikTok and Instagram only load after you click play. From that moment the platform may set its own cookies and process your data under its own privacy policy. For Vimeo we ask the player not to track you.

Cookies and similar storage

hv-consent (local storage, set by hotelvideos.com): remembers your cookie choice. Kept until you clear it. Strictly necessary, no consent needed.

__cf_bm, cf_clearance (Cloudflare): protect the site against bots and abuse. Kept for about 30 minutes. Strictly necessary, no consent needed.

_ga, _ga_<id> (Google Analytics): distinguish visits and visitors for statistics. Kept for up to 2 years. Only with your consent.

You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. If you decline after accepting, we remove the Google Analytics cookies.

Who receives your data

We use a small number of service providers that process data on our behalf: Railway (hosting, servers in Amsterdam), Cloudflare (network, security, visitor counts and image storage), Hostinger (email) and, only with your consent, Google (analytics). Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where data leaves the EU, they rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. We never sell your data.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its use, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Email [email protected] and we will respond within a month. If you think we handle your data incorrectly, you can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Changes

If we change how we handle your data, we update this page and the date at the top. If we start measuring more or something different, the cookie banner asks for your consent again.
