Pulitzer Amsterdam is not a single building but a cluster of 25 canal houses from the 17th and 18th centuries, joined together behind their old facades on the Prinsengracht. Wander through it and you pass from one house to the next along glass passages, past steep staircases, beamed ceilings and walls full of art, with a calm green garden hidden in the middle of the block.
No two rooms look alike. Some face the canal, others the garden, and the collector's suites each have their own theme, from books and antiques to art and flowers. Think rich colour, vintage pieces and modern bathrooms instead of identical hotel rooms. The oldest rooms can feel compact, which is part of the deal in a canal house.
Eating and drinking take up a good share of a stay here. Jansz handles breakfast and relaxed meals through the day, the garden fills with tables when the weather allows, and Pulitzer's Bar is a dark, intimate room for an evening cocktail. A small beauty salon and a gym complete the picture.
Then there is the boat, a classic salon boat in 1920s style that takes guests out on the canals with a skipper at the wheel. The video gives you a look inside the suites.

Amsterdam, Netherlands.
The hotel sits in the western canal ring, the part of Amsterdam that most visitors picture when they think of the city. The Nine Streets, a grid of small lanes with independent shops, cafes and vintage stores, start right around the corner, and the Jordaan with its markets and brown cafes is a short stroll further west.
The Westerkerk tower and the Anne Frank House are only a few minutes on foot, Dam Square is close by and the Rijksmuseum is about 1.6 km away. A tram stop is a three minute walk, and Schiphol Airport is roughly 20 minutes by car.
What guests say.
From guest reviews, checked October 2026.Guests keep coming back to three things: the staff, who are described as warm and attentive, the central yet calm location close to the canals and the Nine Streets, and the character of the linked historic houses. The bar, the garden and breakfast at Jansz get frequent praise, and the boat trip is a highlight for many. On the downside, rooms in the old houses can be small, and street facing rooms on the lower floors can be noisy, so asking for a garden side room is wise.
