Hotel TwentySeven fills a stately brick landmark on Dam Square, facing the Royal Palace in the very centre of Amsterdam. The building was once home to a club for the city's industrialists, and its carved stone doorway, vaulted halls and broad staircase still give every arrival a sense of ceremony.
There are no ordinary rooms here: guests stay in studios and suites of up to two bedrooms, dressed with tufted headboards, patterned wall coverings, oak floors, bold artworks and stone bathrooms with whirlpool tubs. A few suites stretch over two floors or have their own terrace, and butler service can be arranged. Many guests are surprised by how peaceful the suites feel, even with the busy square right outside.
Downstairs, the bar is a dim, warm lounge of velvet sofas, leather poufs and a glowing counter where the bartenders shake inventive cocktails. Restaurant Bougainville is the address for a long tasting menu in the evening, and breakfast gets just as much attention in the morning.
The video and images show the facade at dusk, the lantern-lit lounge, suites in deep reds and golds, and the wide view over Dam Square with its trams, crowds and palace towers.

Dam Square is the historic heart of Amsterdam. The Royal Palace, the Nieuwe Kerk and the National Monument all stand within a few steps of the hotel, and De Bijenkorf department store sits on the opposite side of the square. Trams stop about a minute away.
From here the canal ring, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an easy walk, as are the boutiques of the Nine Streets and the quieter lanes of the Jordaan. Vondelpark and the museums around Museumplein are about three kilometres south. Amsterdam Centraal station is roughly ten minutes on foot, with frequent trains to Schiphol airport.
What guests say.
From guest reviews, checked October 2026.Guests rate Hotel TwentySeven among the finest hotels they have stayed in anywhere. They single out staff who remember names and needs, butlers who smooth every detail, and suites that feel lavish yet calm despite the lively square outside. Breakfast and the tasting menu at Bougainville get frequent praise, as do the cocktails in the bar. On the downside, there is no easy place for cars to drop off or collect guests, prices are steep, and one guest felt late checkout and room checks were handled with less grace than the rate would suggest.
Read on Google“The rooms are large, well styled and have an excellent view of the historic Dam Square.”
Read on Google“Our room was immaculate, it had the softest bed, cozy linens, and a bathroom with a steam shower, jacuzzi tub, and bidet.”
Read on Google“I can not believe how quiet the space was! We had concerns being right next to the Palace plaza that was always full of people and activities, but our room was dead quiet.”
