Hotel de Russie stands on Via del Babuino, the graceful street that runs between Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps, so many of Rome's famous sights and smartest boutiques are only a short stroll away. Behind its pale stone facade, this Rocco Forte address feels remarkably calm for a hotel in the very middle of the city.
The real treasure is the terraced garden. Le Jardin serves its dishes among the greenery, and the bar moves outdoors when it is time for an early evening aperitivo. Guests return to that garden again and again in their reviews, calling it a peaceful green pocket far from the traffic and the crowds.
Rooms combine soft, light tones with marble or mosaic bathrooms, and several of the larger categories open onto terraces looking over the garden or the rooftops. Suites add extra bedrooms and perks such as breakfast and an airport transfer.
Below ground, the spa centres on a saltwater whirlpool tiled in deep blue mosaic, with a sauna, a hammam and quiet treatment rooms alongside. Families are looked after well too, with activities for children and a team known for remembering the small details. The short video from Rocco Forte Hotels offers a first glimpse before you arrive.

Rome, Italy.
The hotel sits in the Tridente, the elegant triangle of streets fanning out from Piazza del Popolo. Via del Corso and Via Condotti are close by for shopping, the artists' lane of Via Margutta runs right behind the hotel, and the Spanish Steps are a few minutes away on foot.
Climb from Piazza del Popolo to the Pincio terrace for a sweeping view over the city, then continue into the gardens of Villa Borghese and its gallery. The Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon are an easy walk south, and the Flaminio and Spagna metro stations are nearby. Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) is roughly 45 minutes away by car.
What guests say.
From guest reviews, checked October 2026.Guests praise the staff above all, from a concierge who arranges tours, tickets and transfers to a breakfast team that people mention by name. The garden, the outdoor bar at aperitivo time and the central yet quiet setting come up again and again, and families with small children feel especially welcome. The cooking at Le Jardin also earns warm words. On the downside, some rooms are on the small side, the spa is compact, and one guest found a mix-up over messages and an airport transfer less polished than the rest of the stay.
