Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat stands near the tip of the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula, a long white building from 1908 in seven hectares of Mediterranean gardens. Umbrella pines, cypresses and lawns slope down from its terraces towards the open sea, with the lighthouse of the cape just beyond.
At the foot of the gardens, on the rocks, is the Club Dauphin. Its seawater pool runs along the edge of the shore, with cabanas behind and the lighthouse above, and a small funicular carries guests down the slope. Children have their own corner under the pines, with nets and tree houses strung between the trunks.
The rooms and suites are divided between the original palace and Les Terrasses du Cap, a newer wing whose curved balconies disappear under planting. Several suites there have a pool of their own beside the garden, while the palace rooms look out to sea through tall windows and loggias.
Lunch is served at La Véranda in the shade of the pines. Le Cap, which holds a Michelin star, cooks the produce of the South of France at dinner, and in the afternoon pastries and tea come out on the terrace. The spa has added treatment cabanas in the gardens, one of them a fitness room with the sea in view. The hotel closes for the winter and reopens each spring.

Côte d'Azur, France.
Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is a small green peninsula between Nice and Monaco, covered in pines and the gardens of large villas. A coastal path circles most of it, passing coves where the water is clear enough to see the rocks below. The village has a small harbour with fishing boats and a few restaurants on the quay, and the pink Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild stands on the narrow neck of the cape among its terraced gardens.
Villefranche-sur-Mer and Beaulieu-sur-Mer are each a few minutes away by car. Nice Côte d'Azur Airport is about thirty minutes from the hotel and Monaco around twenty-five.
What guests say.
From guest reviews, checked October 2026.Reviewers keep returning to the grounds: fragrant gardens above the sea, tennis courts, and Club Dauphin with its saltwater pool at the foot of the slope, reached by a glass funicular. Breakfast and the spa come up again and again, as does the coastal path towards the lighthouse just beyond the gate. Many guests describe service that remembers small preferences without hovering, from favourite dishes to small gifts waiting on arrival. The honest drawback is upkeep: a few reviewers find parts of the interior, some rooms and the spa pool ready for a refresh.
